      The Paja Toquilla hat is originary of Ecuador and is a traditional brimmed Straw hat. The hats were made from the pleited leaves of the Jijipijapa Palm or as they are known locally as the Toquilla Palm.
      
      The traditional Ecuadorian toquilla hat was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists on 6 December 2012, , a term use to define knowledge,traditions, practices and skills communities pass down from generation to generation in our cultura heritage.       The tagua is a nut called “vegetable Ivory” or “Ivory nut”; is the dried seedpod of the Tagua Palm tree (Phytelephas Macrocarpa) which grows in tropical rainforests of (Ecuador,Colombia , Peru and Brazil) The Tagua nuts comes in a fruit that carries multiplies nuts. Each nut has a shell that contains the seed. This seed is the size of a chicken egg and is covered in a thin brown skin.. Tagua can be carved and be polished to a bright shined but first has to be dried; to work the Tagua it should be sun-dry to 4-6 month.
